What is a unique gift? What is unique?
Something different, unusual, not mass produced ……. comes to mind as definitions. I think it is also a very subjective and personal issue because it all depends on:
- the person you’re giving too
- you
- your budget and
- the occasion
Because something you consider unique may not be to the person that will be receiving it. One aspect of gift-giving I love, is, to think of the person you’re giving too. To step into their shoes and consider what they would like to receive and then in the context of you, what you’d like to or are able to give them. After all, it is flattering to receive a gift that you have felt are worthy to receive. This I experienced at my 30th birthday (many moons ago now) of receiving an art print that I thought was beautiful and was very flattered to have been thought of as the recipient from my friends. Perhaps that’s because I value art and consider it meaningful to give as a gift. It is interesting how our own perceptions and experiences change how we see things.
Your budget, of course, is very important. It is also timely to remember that the best gifts are not always the most expensive. So give with confidence what you think the person would enjoy. It is not a matter of “keeping up the Jones”
Ah yes, the occasion. As a recent customer said, ‘I think my wife would love your designer aprons, however for an anniversary present I’m not sure it is implying the right intention’. Feedback I understood but also could see why he and his wife were celebrating their 53rd anniversary when he has such obvious respect and consideration of her. A beautiful thing.
So giving a unique gift is within our reach and there are many places to find these both on the internet and walking into shops. Feel free to list where you have found your last unique gift….
