Doves Peace Photographic Prints by Kay Merrin

Sharing these fascinating, complex photographic prints is simply a joy. This is what Kay has to say:
I enjoy creating these images to capture the action of the dove wings moving that is not easily seen by the naked eye due to the speed of the movement. It is an image that although of a high speed action I feel it is soft and gentle in experiencing it frozen in this moment of time; as the dove is a symbol of peace and thus intentional as my subject matter.
Unframed price
Over the years Kay has experimented with a wide variety of materials and methods including – gouache, acrylic, oils, water-colour, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, pastel and photography.
Awards won by Kay Merrin:
2009 Major Art Award -’Open Minds, Open Doors’ -
Fremantle Hospital (‘Leila’s Dream’)
2010 Highly Commended Photography Award – City of Belmont
Art & Photographic Awards (‘Flight’)
2010 Selection for Adachi Photo Exhibition,

Unique Wedding Gift
What are your experiences selecting a gift for a wedding?
Sometimes the gift register can be helpful particularly if you don’t know the couple very well, they are interstate or overseas or if they already live together and you just don’t have a clue if they already have more than one toaster?
For me, I’m a bit of rebel when it comes to buying from the gift register; I like the challenge of looking for something that makes me think of the couple and also to share my passions such as original art.
So, are you looking for a unique wedding gift? A one-off? You want to rebel against the wedding register list?
Have you considered an original artwork?

This week a new client offered her daughter to choose an original artwork from our current exhibition, Seasons. She set a budget and her daughter and husband-to-be chose a piece a few days later which will now be displayed at their wedding reception. Your thoughts? Mine: ….nice! I particularly liked the fact that the mother allowed the couple to make the choice themselves given art tastes are so personal particularly from a couple point of view. In that what you may enjoy as an individual may be slightly different in a couple as you consider both people’s tastes.

As gallery owner and curator I am very pleased with the result of our current exhibition, Seasons. The theme was suggested by one of our artist members some 12-18 months ago when I submitted our exhibition application into the Moore’s Building in Fremantle. Very definitely a quality venue for not only the way it looks, but the professionalism of the management and the quality people it attracts. It has simply been a delight to be working in this space.
Back to the exhibition theme…. yes so… each of our member artists were invited to create a new work, 4 in fact, one for each season – you know Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – and I have curated them across the 4 gallery rooms plus a stock room (in the 5th gallery room) which is generating alot of interest. The motivation behind the stock room is to display as much work as possible as we are an online art gallery.
But I must confess after curating and installing the Seasons exhibition, when I entered the stock room it felt like I was installing a whole new exhibition. Which indeed I was – with 50 works on display. But this gallery is focusing on small to medium sized works.
Anyway, if you’re in Perth then visit us at 46 Henry Street Fremantle or view online http://interactivearts.com.au/search/seasons

Interactive Arts Vision
Last night’s opening night of the exhibition City Life was a great success and celebration for the realisation of my vision for our artists 3 years ago. This vision I shared last night, it is:
After being in business for 6 months, I was aware from both clients and artists the importance of having exhibitions and opening night events however either directly or indirectly artists pay for these events. Therefore, to support the development of the careers of the artists I work with I have successfully sought sponsorship to be able to deliver an exhibition to our artists free of entry fee costs. This is an exciting achievement and has been possible thanks due to the sponsorship from Hawaiian providing us with such a spectacular venue as Parmelia House, Arimia Wines, Jewellery Gallery on Hay and Meeka Restaurant for creating such a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere.
Finally thanks to you for your interest and support of Interactive Arts and our artists.
Warm regards,
Fleur
PS The end of my vision was for a sell-out show. The motivation for this is to allow the talented artists we work with to continue to express themselves and that of the human condition which I know you will agree is essential for all of us. If you’re able to assist me with this through either buying a painting, visiting the exhibition, providing feedback, sharing the details of the exhibition or inviting those you know to like our facebook page then please do so as every effort is appreciated.

Sensory Overload by Yolande Bennett
Yolande’s work is often marked by a metaphysical orchestration of colour yet simultaneously retains a delicate sensibility of presence, performing an opera of gestures and painterly manoeuvres. Tempestuous flourishes evoke a sense of drama, these paintings are romantic in essence; in their application, they are guided by intuition, natural process and mood.
Come to the Melbourne Art Fair that is on at The Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton from TODAY – 19th to 22nd May .
