Only one week left to see Ann Land’s Sans Titre exhibition
December 16, 2009 · 1 Comment
Sans Titre
new works by Ann Land inspired by the Australian landscape
After the success of the Meet the Artist Day I thought I’d mention to those that were unable to attend to think beyond the venue (that’s if you’re not familiar with it). Some have commented on why we are exhibiting at a hospital cafe; well in answer to this, this is no ordinary hospital cafe. It is a stunning venue that draws natural light on to the original artwork to bring them to life throughout the day. If you haven’t been to the Bethesda Hospital Cafe, I encourage you to do so because Ann Land’s work is simply not given full justice via a photographic image. I look forward to hearing your experiences.
Regards, Fleur Allen
Sans Titre, meaning untitled in French. This title was a theme Ann observed French artists were enjoying in her recent a trip to France which invited the viewer to use their imagination in interpreting the art. This new work brings together Ann’s use of monochrome imagery, diverse textures juxtaposed with intense colour. You are in for an absolute treat with this exhibition and expect the unexpected…
Cafe open to purchase refreshments
Bethesda Hospital Cafe
Queenslea Drive Claremont
Exhibition runs until 23 December

Art like you’ve never seen before by Ann Land and Eve Arnold
November 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment
I had a unique and extraordinary day yesterday; I was involved in hosting opening events to two artists that have developed for themselves a unique, original style not like I’ve seen anywhere else before:
Ann Land truly means mixed media; working with acrylic paint, inks, gouache and sand Ann expertly manipulates this media onto her canvases to give us deep, irridescent colour combined with rippled textures. This is a style and outcome that is completely original, contact us for you to own an Ann Land original.
Oh so Blue by Ann Land 80 x 130 cms ready to hang $1980 Buy here
Eve Arnold expertly creates her images through etching and distressing with hand tools (
no machinery used) a variety of beautiful and organic forms. Further meaning is derived from the titles of great Jazz standards such as “Falling in Love again’ and ‘Re-turning point’ and more plus with the discovery of how much these works ‘live’ with the changing natural light. I encourage you, those local to Perth, to visit the elements gallery at 3pm and return again at 5 or 6pm to experience the dramatic change in these artworks; a truly magical outcome that would be an exciting addition to any spacious home or office reception or boardroom.

As you can imagine, photographs simply don’t do justice to the full impact of these unique works. Contact us to arrange a viewing if you’re located local to Perth or else contact us to receive a full description/interpretation of the works relating to your own personal situation.

Why isn’t there an Arts blog on the Technorait Top 100 blogs?
September 30, 2009 · 2 Comments
Is Art that unimportant? Or are blogs the wrong media? Anyway, my soapbox seems to have appeared for me to step up and ‘rant’ but am frustrated in the lack of recognition and value given to all the arts. Why? Because this is a primary area that develops creativity, problem solving and discipline. All traits respected by many, so why do so many of us ‘miss the point’?
Any thoughts? Ideas?

Investment Allowance for Art purchase
September 29, 2009 · 2 Comments
Government Investment Allowance of 50% on Art purchases up until 31st Dec 2009
Are you aware that you might be eligible for an investment allowance of up to 50% for the purchase of art by your business?
Lowensteins Arts Management (Certified Practicing Accountants) have received advice from the ATO confirming that businesses with a turnover under $2 million are eligible to receive an investment allowance of up to 50% on the purchase of artworks purchased for at least $1,000. Also, for businesses with a turnover of more than $2 million turnover an investment allowance of 10% on the purchase of artworks purchased for at least $10,000. This investment allowance is available up to 31st December 2009.
There are a small number of guidelines to enable artworks to be claimed under the new allowance. Among the guidelines accepted by the ATO to qualify for the allowance are:
1. The allowance only applies to NEW artworks created by professional artists registered with an ABN or a recognised overseas artist.
2. Artworks are used in Australia primarily for business purposes (an artwork would not qualify if its exposure was limited to only its owner).
3. Artworks must be tangible, therefore excluding digital art.
4. Artworks cannot be intended for sale in the foreseeable future.
Here is an example of how the investment allowance for a small business with a turnover less than $2 million would work:
A) Print purchased for $2,000 (includes GST).
B) Depreciation $ 20
C) Investment Allowance $1,000
D) Equates to a tax deduction of $1,020 dollars
This investment allowance will only apply up until 31st December 2009, so now is the right time to acquire art for a business.
Of course, The Raw Gallery recommends you consult your accountant before making any purchase.
